Home Decor: How We Styled Our Living Room
Surprise! My boyfriend and I moved in together! Not only do we both save money on rent now, but we also got to work together to make our new space feel like home. I’ve been posting some images on Instagram and got a ton of compliments—figured I would go ahead and share where we got all of our home decor! We didn’t buy everything; he brought some stuff from his past apartment and same with me. Some of the items on here are expensive, but note that we split things AND bought a lot of pieces over Memorial Day Weekend (aka lots of sales). Enjoy!
This was a piece of furniture my boyfriend already had, and I love it. I would say out of all the items we have in our home, this is the one we get the most compliments on.
Chevron Walnut Coffee Table:
My boyfriend bought this for half off at the showroom in NYC years ago. I’m lucky that I got to inherit it! For real though, it’s a cool style and it goes very well with our living room.
Nathanson Terracota Area Rug:
We purchased this together online and it was surprisingly affordable! The material is fine—not fancy, but doesn’t feel cheap. We thought it went really well with our couch and coffee table.
Posner TV Stand:
When we bought this, it was on sale for about $286—which was basically the cheapest console we could find that still looked nice. The color is a little darker than what the AllModern website shows, but it still fits in perfectly with our living room. This piece also looked a bit more complicated than IKEA furniture I’ve built in the past, so I ordered a TaskRabbit to assemble it for us. Honestly, it was the best decision. I highly recommend ordering a TR if it’s more difficult for you to build yourself.
Simple Living Bianca Mid-Century Modern Chair:
We were on the hunt for a good accent chair and REALLY wanted a leather one from West Elm, but the cost was too much and the risk was too high considering I have a cat with unpredictable behaviors. Instead, we bought a faux leather chair on Overstock for WAY less money. And guess what—it’s even more comfortable than the West Elm chair!
Globe Lamp:
Bought this from West Elm. We were feeling the style of it. AND it was Memorial Day Weekend, so it was on sale.
Sphere + Stem Floor Lamp:
This was another item we found on sale! Idk why we’re into the globe-style floor lamps, but we love them.
Golden Oak Lush Velvet Pillow Cover:
Nothing makes your couch look fancier than a little velvet! The gold color looks SO nice with the blue couch. We stan.
Bishop Pedestal Planters
These are only the planters! And they are awesome. The top part is removable and it’s supposed to be better for actually growing plants, but…I have a cat and we cannot have real plants. I basically added fake plants, stuffed them, and added fake moss.
