I'm Moving To Peru, Colombia, And Mexico For Four Months
**PERSONAL NEWS ANNOUNCEMENT**
Holy. Effing. Shit. I cannot believe I am actually typing this, but I am moving to Peru at the end of this month! I've been working at BuzzFeed for more than five years now, and it amazes me that I can still get the most incredible opportunities far beyond what I believed possible.
Two weeks ago, BuzzFeed approached me about a program they're collaborating with called Remote Year, which entails moving abroad and working remote with a ton of other professionals across the globe. It's basically the adult version of study abroad. I am SO EXCITED to announce that I am joining the Kahlo itinerary for four months, which means I'll be living in Peru, Colombia, and Mexico until the end of the year! Remote Year provides a private room, a workspace, transportation, and some weekend activities. I will also be taking lots of side trips (Cartagena! Machu Picchu! Rainbow Mountain!) and meeting so many digital nomads, all while writing about travel for BuzzFeed. I'm even going to meet my entire Peruvian family for the first time, and hope to learn more about my dad's childhood. And to top it all off, I found someone to rent my apartment and watch my cat, Nala. Is this real life?
Guys, I legit had a year from hell. I used to walk into every therapy session, crying about how worthless I was and how much I dreaded waking up every morning. I hated everything about my life and experienced emotional pain every single day. It feels like my entire life has turned around, and things are almost too good right now. I am beyond grateful to BuzzFeed for believing in me, I'm grateful for the recovery I've gained over the past few months, and I'm ecstatic to embark on this new adventure.
Anyway, I will be Instagramming the shit out of my experience, so make sure to follow along. I'll also be writing about the countries I'm living in, so check out my BuzzFeed profile for updates. Thanks to my friends, my family, and strangers for all the support you've given me in my life. I love you.
