Best Finds At Expo East
Heyyyy babes! Last weekend was a blast — I met up with some Instagrammers (shout out to @balancedmissbailey, @weightforit_, @thatswhatsheeats, and @better_meg) and we went to Expo East! What is Expo East, you ask? Well, it's the Natural Products Expo in which a ton of vendors come out and showcase new products, new flavors, and give away A TON OF FREE SAMPLES. We worked our way across the floor, sampling so much fucking food that I felt physically ill. Rookie mistake of ours, we didn't even realize we weren't in the main area. There were HUNDREDS of vendors downstairs (and some more on the top floor), and we left feeling like balloons about to explode (well, I did).
There were so many booths that I didn't even get to try everything I wanted to. Below is the list of items I remember.
Please note: I do not have nutritional information or know how many Weight Watchers points these products are. You'll have to do a bit of Googling. :) Also worth mentioning that I am not claiming these products are all decidedly "healthy." Each person is responsible for finding out what foods fit their goals — I am simply sharing the stuff I thought tasted best.
If you've never had jackfruit, I implore you to give it a shot. It's a fruit that resembles pulled pork. It's actually delicious!
No Cow Fluffbutter (Formerly D's Naturals)
OMG, this was AH-MA-ZING. This was one of the first things I tried, and remains my favorite. They were nice enough to give me a jar to take home, but it's legit almost gone. I also tried Creamy Chocolate S'mores, and it was delightful.
I ate this before I had the chance to take a picture, but it was surprisingly good. Banana Nut was a favorite among the group, but I liked Lemon Flavored Poppy Seed best. It's not the super soft cake you'll find at your local bakery, but it gets the job done.
Julie's Real Cinnamon Vanilla Bean Cashew Butter
Spoiler alert: I ate A LOT of nut butters during the Expo. I had never tried cashew butter before, and this did not disappoint. Just so good.
Cassava Crunch Yuca Root Chips
Y'all. These were 😍. I liked the Seeds flavor too, but Beet with Goat Cheese was my favorite.
Biena Dark Chocolate Chickpeas
I am so mad at myself that I never asked to take a home a sample of these. They were like crack. I never thought chocolate + chickpeas could mesh, but dang.
Pumpkin Flax Energy Kodiak Cakes
OH. MY. GOD. It's basically fall, which means anything pumpkin-flavored is encouraged. They made mini pancakes at their booth and they were ethereal. For anyone who already loves Kodiak Cakes, this is a must-try.
Not pictured: Chocolate Raspberry Coconut (because I couldn't help myself and downed it all). The filling in these bars are so soft and flavorful and raspberry is hands down the best. They also have a prebiotic and a probiotic, claiming to be great for gut health, and are also gluten-free and kosher.
Green Mountain Creamery Yogurt
I love me some Greek yogurt, and this was super creamy! It's not on their website, but I'm pretty sure I tried a caramel flavor.
P.S. Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough
This is made with chickpeas, so it's healthy, right?!
Chickpea Cheeto Puffs, basically. Can't go wrong.
I love hot sauce, and I love variety. The Habanero and Blue Agave Sriracha were 🔥.
Ok, to be fair, I've had these many a time before. But my love for them has not diminished, so I'm just calling them out for fun.
I've had Lily's chocolate chips before, but never the snack bars. I haven't tried the Double Chocolate one (below), but the Sour Cherry Chocolate one was A+.
Square Organics Cookie Dough Bar
I can't believe I had never tried Square Organics until this Expo. Got a taste of the new crisps and the Chocolate Coated Cookie Dough flavor and loved them all.
They have a Sweet Potato Muffin. Enough said.
Purely Elizabeth Pumpkin Cinnamon Granola
Already used this in a recipe. :)
So many chickpea creations at this event! I got boxes of this pasta and I'm excited to make some dinners with them.
Do chicken fingers even need an explanation?
